Jere Calmes joins Lamoda as CEO

Moscow: Global Fashion Group (GFG), the leading online destination for fashion and lifestyle in growth markets, today announces the appointment of Jere Calmes as Chief Executive Officer of Lamoda, GFG’s online platform in Russia and the CIS. Jere will commence his new role with immediate effect.

Jere is an experienced CEO with 25 years of leadership across diverse sectors. He has a strong track record of delivering results in the retail, telecommunications and wholesale industries, with a focus on emerging markets and in particular, Russia. Having served as an advisor to GFG in Russia and the CIS since 2016, Jere is familiar with the business and the significant opportunities ahead.

Jere was most recently CEO of METRO Cash & Carry Russia, the Russian division of a multinational wholesale chain that operates membership-only warehouse clubs. During his tenure, he initiated a structural transformation of the local operations, which included rolling out over 1,000 franchise stores and significantly accelerating the e-commerce business. Prior to this Jere was the CEO of Tele2 Russia where he built the business into one of the most competitive and fastest-growing operations in the country. He has held senior leadership roles at Fast Lane Ventures, an early stage investment fund focused on Internet businesses in Russia, at Pharmacy Chain 36.6, a retail pharmacy operator as well as, at Vimpelcom, one of the largest integrated telecommunications operators in Russia and the CIS.

As part of the leadership transition, Lamoda also welcomes new internal appointments in the areas of fulfillment, delivery and finance to its executive team. These new appointments each bring a different set of expertise and strong sense of leadership to Lamoda’s established and diverse executive team, which will ensure it continues to combine fashion retail, operational, technology and data analytics capabilities to create an inspiring and seamless shopping experience for millions of customers in Russia and the CIS.
